Ingredients
Sweet & Scrumptious Walnuts:
- 4 cups California Walnut halves about 1 lb/500g 1 L
- 4 tbsp pure maple syrup 60 mL
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds 30 mL
Bold & Spicy Walnuts:
- 1 egg white
- 1 tbsp Water 15 mL
- 4 cups California Walnut halves about 1 lb/500g 1 L
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar 75 mL
- 2 tsp coarse salt 10 mL
- 1 1/2 tsp cumin 7 mL
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper 2 mL
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder 1 mL
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar 75 mL
- 2 tsp coarse salt 10 mL
- 1 1/2 tsp cumin 7 mL
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper 2 mL
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder 1 mL
Instructions
Sweet & Scrumptious Walnuts:
- In medium bowl, combine walnuts and maple syrup; mix until evenly coated. Stir in sesame seeds. Spread on non-stick baking sheet.
- Bake in 325 C (160 F) oven for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring twice, until nuts are lightly browned. Allow to cool on baking sheet. (Nuts will become dry and crunchy as they cool.)
- Store in air-tight container.
Bold & Spicy Walnuts:
- In large bowl, whisk together egg white and water until foamy; add walnuts and mix until all nuts are coated; drain excess liquid. In small bowl, combine sugar, salt, cumin, cayenne pepper and garlic powder. Stir in dry ingredients until walnuts are evenly coated.
- Spread on non-stick baking sheet. Bake in 325 C (160 F) oven for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring twice, until nuts are lightly browned. Allow to cool on baking sheet. (Nuts will become dry and crispy as they cool.)
- Store in air-tight container.
