(NC) – Holiday baking doesn’t have to be difficult. This year let the kids join you in the kitchen to prepare a special dark chocolate treat for Santa. He’s sure to love the fun twist to his classic Christmas Eve treat.

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter softened, 250 mL
- 1 cup brown sugar lightly packed, 250 mL
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar 125 mL
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla 10 mL
- 2 3/4 cup all-purpose flour 675 mL
- 1 tsp baking soda 5 mL
- 1/4 tsp salt 1 mL
- 6 g Mars Dark 50size
Instructions
- Beat the butter with the brown and granulated sugars until very smooth. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until combined. Stir in the vanilla. Add the flour, baking soda and salt; mix until combined.
- Cut each Mars Dark bar into 6 pieces. Divide the dough into 36 equal portions. Form each portion of dough around each piece of Mars Dark bar; smooth the dough over top. Place at least 2-inches (5 cm) apart on parchment-lined baking sheets. Chill the sheets for 15 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350 F (180 C). Bake, in batches and on the centre rack, for 14 to 16 minutes or until bottoms are lightly golden. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
